Wastes from Manufacture of Dyes and Pigments
نویسنده
چکیده
A preliminary study of the manufacture of dyes and pigments was conducted to determine if process waste streams might contain hazardous material. The study first identifies the dyes and pigments that belong to the major segments of the industry, the amounts produced, and the known U.S. producers. The chemistry of these dyes and pigments is discussed as well as the overall production process and waste treatment practices. Waste streams that could contain hazardous material are identified and companies that produce representative dyes and pigments are recommended for a sampling program to confirm the composition and amounts of these waste streams. This Project Summary was developed by EPA *s Industrial Environmental Research Laboratory, Cincinnati, OH, to announce key findings of the research project that is fully documented in a separate report of the same title (see Project Report ordering information at back).

Extraction of Natural Dye from Osyris Quadripartita and Application in Dyeing of Cotton Fabrics
Natural dyes are widely used in the coloring of food, leather and wood [1]. Traditionally they were the only colorants for textile fibers like wool, silk, cotton and flax. Their use in textiles declined drastically with the introduction of synthetic dyes in 1856 [2-6]. Presently the use of synthetic dyes is estimated at around 10,000,000 tons per annum [7-11]. The manufacture and use of this la...

متن کاملModified magnetite nanoparticles with cetyltrimethylammonium bromide as superior adsorbent for rapid removal of the disperse dyes from wastewater of textile companies
This paper reports application of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) coated magnetite nanoparticles (Fe3O4 NPs) as a novel adsorbent for removal of two types of disperse dyes, including disperse red 167, and disperse blue 183, from wastewater of textile companies. The effect of parameters including type of surfactant, pH of solution, surfactant concentration, and amount...
متن کاملHpan Textile Fiber Wastes for Removal of Dyes from Industrial Textile Effluents
The paper presents our new results about efficiency of wastes based on hydrolyzed polyacrylonitrile textile fibers (HPAN) as sorbents in removal of some dyes from textile effluents. The effect of some experimental variables such as initial dye concentration, sorbent mass, pH, temperature, and contact time were investigated. The sorbent dye sorption systems are described using Freundlich, Langmu...
